The stagger mechanic came to Killer Instinct late in Season 2 when Shadow Jago changed into more than just a clone character, but it wasn’t until the third season’s official launch that the mechanic saw use outside of the possessed fighter. Now that Season 3 is well underway, a handful of characters have access to the ability to pummel their opponents with these crippling blows which offer massive hit stun for combo openings and extensions that don’t necessarily look possible.
In his latest Killer Instinct Season 3 tutorial, Sajam takes a moment to discuss the basics of this new mechanic. Naturally, he uses Tusk to explore the heavy hits, as stagger is an integral part of the viking’s approach to any match.
